To start off our new IN CONVERSATION series who better than the co-founder of one of our favourite vegan haircare brands on the market: Hello Hair. The brand’s bestselling hydrating haircare mask has become a social media success with thousands of vegan and non-vegan women worldwide raving about its glossy, moisturising benefits. Based in Australia, the brand itself has over 293k followers on Instagram with the number growing each day.

When was Hello Hair launched and tell us a bit about the original idea that started the business?

Hello Hair launched in December 2013. There are 3 of us who make up Hello Hair – Jade, Sophie, and myself. None of us had any previous ties to the beauty or hair industry. Hello Hair came about because we had been endlessly searching for an all natural hair mask, which wasn’t filled with chemicals and other nasties. We all have coloured hair so were desperate for something to save our locks from damage. We had all had negative experiences with salon treatments and realised there was a gap in the market for an all natural, vegan friendly alternative.

We did some research and identified the beneficial qualities that Coconut, Almond and Argan oils provide for nourishing hair and promoting growth. The difference between Hello Hair Hydrating Mask and many other treatments on the market, is ours is ALL natural! Whilst many salon and store brands claim to be 100% natural, closer inspection of their ingredients will reveal otherwise.

Hello Hair does not contain any artificial ingredients, is vegan friendly and cruelty free. Because our treatment is made from natural ingredients, it is suitable for all hair types. Curly, straight, wavy, frizzy and everything in between.

How has Hello Hair grown and how many people now make up the team? Where is it based?

We are based in Melbourne, Australia. Our team hasn’t expanded, the three of us are extremely hands on within the business and do everything ourselves. This has meant we are all super busy, but we like it that way!

What were the main challenges when Hello Hair started out?

The biggest challenge was probably in the beginning, trying to gauge whether people would be interested in our product enough to purchase it! It was all well and good that we thought it was great, but we needed other people to believe in it too. Gaining consumer confidence in a new product which they have never tried or heard of was a win for us.

What inspires the Hello Hair team?

Amazing hair inspires us, and we believe that everyone deserves, and is able to achieve a great mane of their own. We are excited to be able to offer our customers an all natural alternative to what is currently available on the market in the way of hair treatments.

We are inspired by the feedback we get from our customers once they’ve used Hello Hair and experienced the benefits. It drives us to think of new and exciting natural hair care products that we can add to our current offering.

What is Hello Hair all about? What makes Hello Hair different? Tell us a bit about the benefits?

Hello Hair Hydrating Mask is a 100% natural treatment which uses the benefits of Coconut, Almond and Argan oils to reconstruct and strengthen stressed out and damaged hair. It is a great remedy for colour treated and bleached hair, chemically treated hair, human hair extensions and hair which is regularly affected by heat exposure from the sun, blow-drying, and straightening.

Hello Hair can also assist in the management of dandruff and dry, flaky scalp issues. It leaves your hair feeling softer and easier to manage after use. Lots of our customers have found that regular use of our masks has resulted in their hair growing faster, which is an amazing result.

Why do you think people have reacted so well to Hello Hair and it has such a strong following, particularly on social media?

We hope that by creating products we love and are passionate about, our enthusiasm and authenticity shines through. We endeavour to create content through social media platforms that our audience can relate to and find inspiring. We believe in speaking to our customers and followers as if they’re our best friends.

The key to success on social media is maintaining a personal relationship with followers and letting them take a sneak peek inside your world. Consumers appreciate one on one interaction, they feel like they’re a part of your journey and is creates a great rapport.

What’s an average day like in the Hello Hair office?

Our office is where everything happens! We facilitate all of the packing and sending of orders, hold meetings, manage emails, speak to customers and suppliers, and brainstorm new and exciting things for Hello Hair.

Why do you believe natural beauty has seen such a rise in popularity in recent years?

Consumers have so much choice when it comes to health and beauty products, and they’re really putting in the groundwork when it comes to identifying companies who aren’t cruelty free, vegan friendly or who use crazy ingredients.

The fact that there’s so much information out there now, means that customers can make informed choices on their preferred brands.

We’re all about educating our customers and helping them to understand the difference between all natural products like ours, and others that are currently available on the market.

What words does the business live by?

If you don’t ask the question, the answer is always no!

What’s next for the business?

We will be expanding our product offering very soon! We can’t share any specific details just yet, but we will have new things coming to Hello Hair before the end of the year.

Still, yo21u8#&7;ve got to give Clinton some credit for being willing to speak the truth about this. Since he’s married to our current secretary of state, his remarks will carry considerable weight.
