How to do Tonal Dressing in Winter

For other sensitive skin souls like myself, Winter dressing can be incredibly annoying! With scratchy, woollen fabrics and 100 layers to keep you warm its no wonder our skin ends up so irritated and itchy! Tonal Dressing is one way to really step things up in the most comfortable way possible!

In the colder, winter months lets be honest…all you really want to wear are ridiculously cosy, non-irritating fabrics topped off with a blanket over the top! So far not so chic. However, after another cosy evening in watching The Holiday I started thinking about how goddam chic Cameron look throughout that whole film. What it all seemed to come down to was dressing in tones within the same colour family that make you look put together even if you are just wearing your favourite joggers!

So here I started by choosing my tonal colour of beige and planned my outfit around. I essentially make sure each piece was roughly within that colour family. The pieces I’ve featured here are all affordable but still non-irritating. As I’ve opted for cottons, tencels and cashmere from H&M, Monki and others.

Go for the most luxurious fabrics you can manage as fabric quality really counts here. However, you can still wear all your favourite comfy pieces like cosy PJ bottoms and fluffy jackets that you know will keep you warm. This is outfit is all about ensuring you are super comfy and warm whilst looking though you have your life together! Finally I added my favourite affordable Weekday sunglasses and a handbag to finish things off!

If you are looking for longewear inspiration to put your look together but have sensitive skin I created a loungewear guide to the best brands for sensitive, easily irritated skin that are oh so chic here.
