My Gisou Hair Oil Haircare Routine

When it comes to my haircare routine I would definitely say I steer on the more laid back route. I really can never be bothered with spending too much time on it, plus I really do like that undone, beachy look. From time to time I will go all out and curl my hair for an evening. But really it's all about the products I use (in a rush) that keep my hair looking healthy with Gisou hair oil.

1. The Basics - Shampoo & Conditioner

First things first it all begins with the humble shampoo and conditioner. I have to say I'm not hugely loyal to a particular shampoo and conditioner as I like to change it up but Aveda is my main go-to brand. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week and always do 2 washes of shampoo, followed my conditioner. The conditioner I leave in for a few minutes and roughly comb through my hair with a wide-toothed comb. About once every 2-3 weeks I try and use a hair mask. My favourites are by far Bleach's Reincarnation mask (affordable and really, really smoothing!) and Bumble & Bumble's overnight mask (again really goood for dryer hair). I also sometimes pre-treat my hair just by running some Gisou hair oil through my hair before washing it for extra moisture.

2. After the Shower

Once I'm out of the shower I put my hair up into a hair turban. My personal favourites tend to be from Aquis that really help dry your hair more quickly. After I'm dressed I then take my hair out of the towel and brush it with my wide-toothed comb and apply Gisou hair oil with my hands. I normally apply 3 drops and I have long, thick hair for reference.

3. Hair Drying

Next, I either let my hair air dry if I'm somewhere hot or I will dry my hair with a hairdryer on medium setting. I actually just use the old hairdryer that I've had for years but I always apply a heat protectant. Lately, it's been by Bumble & Bumble; this is the one I use. If I am going to an event or doing something a bit more interesting I might curl my hair with my GHD wand but that's about as exciting as it gets! For added shine I also sometimes run my hair through with Gisou to soften the curls and create more of a natural look.

4. Hair Maintenance

To keep my hair how I like it I've invested in a silk pillowcase and a silk hair turban (here and here!) I don't think both are necessary but having one option depending on which you prefer makes such a big difference to the smoothness of my hair. Before my hair always used to be a little frizzier the first day or two after washing but now that no longer happens when I use a silk pillowcase or if I'm travelling I use the silk turban. And that's it!
