Our Review of Pixi Beauty UK: SS/20 Collection

[5 MINUTE READ]

Pixi Beauty UK is a brand that many of you will already know and love. Pixi Beauty UK has developed a real cult following over the past few years, in part, thanks to their renowned Pixi Glow Tonic.

Pixi Beauty UK was born over 20 years ago and produces multipurpose products designed to enhance your natural beauty, in easy, time-efficient ways. Now, Pixi Beauty UK has launched their SS/20 collection, and we were lucky enough to be given the chance to try out a few products!

Over the past few weeks, our contributing writer Ella tried out both of the brand new Eye Effects palettes and the new Nuance Quartette palettes as well as, the Large Lash Mascara and LipLift Max plumper. If you want to hear what she thought of them all, then just keep reading for our Pixi Beauty Review!

Ella has sensitised, oily and acne-prone skin.

Pixi Beauty Nuance Quartette

In the new Pixi Beauty Nuance Quartette palettes, available in Sugar Blossom and Honey Nectar, Pixi's value of versatility is reflected. Designed to be used on both eyes and cheeks, each of the quartettes contains 4 pans of soft, creamy powders which are easily blended and perfect for applying on-the-go. Not only are these palettes versatile in terms of function, but they also contain skin-loving ingredients such as Ceramides and Vitamin E to hydrate, nourish and protect, as well as Green Tea which delivers ‘powerful antioxidant properties’, so you can enjoy these products, safe in the knowledge that your skin is enjoying them too! My eyelids and cheeks didn't feel heavy with product, yet the pigmented nature of the product meant that the colour stayed on all day. Exactly what I want from an eye and cheek palette!

Pixi Beauty Eye Effects

Through their 9 pigmented shades, each of the Pixi Beauty Eye Effects palettes tells a different colour story, and can effortlessly take a look from day-to-night.

Rosette Ray features an array of warm and cool-toned shades, in 4 shimmers and 5 matte formulas. The colours are rosy-hued, with shades ranging from soft mauve, metallic raspberry pink to a deep chocolate brown. This versatile palette can take you from a soft, romantic style to an edgy, amped-up look with just a click of the lid!

Hazelnut Haze, also featuring four shimmers and five matte shades, is what I would call an everyday palette. It boasts both a matte cream and buildable, matte black shade which can both amp up or tone down any eye look, while also featuring some unique shades to make any eye look pop. A special mention must go to ‘Sage’ - a shade in Hazelnut Haze that instantly caught my eye. Not so much an every-day colour, but a beautiful duo-chrome green with gold reflections, that I think would suit every eye colour and looks stunning when it catches the light!

In both palettes, I found the deeper shimmers tended to pack more of a punch than the lighter-hues, but when applied with a finger or a dampened brush there is no noticeable difference as the lighter hues are super buildable.

Both the Pixi Beauty Eye Effects and Pixi Beauty Nuance Quartette palettes are delivered in the sleek, distinctive green packaging that we’ve all come to recognise as quintessentially Pixi Beauty UK. Although the identical shape and size of all the palettes can make it tricky to know which one you’re reaching for, their compact nature; as well as the large, good quality mirror inside, means they can be easily slipped into a bag and used on-the-go. In this way, I definitely believe these palettes uphold Pixi Beauty UK Founder, Petra Strand’s value to promote practicality alongside beauty!

Pixi Beauty LipLift Max

The next product I tried was the Pixi Beauty LipLift Max lip plumper in the shade Sweet Nectar. A glossy lip product with a gentle peppermint flavour, Pixi’s LipLifts contain peptides designed to subtly plump the lips, whilst offering hydration through ingredients such as jojoba oil and chamomile extract. Available in a total of five beautiful shades, this product left my lips looking juicy and plumped, with a peachy sheen. The formula, unlike many glosses and lip plumpers, wasn’t at all sticky and, amazingly, didn’t require reapplication until a few hours after first applied! I'd personally recommend this product if you're looking for an everyday gloss that hydrates your lips and doesn't contain any glitter. It's safe to say I've found a new favourite!

Pixi Beauty Large Lash Mascara

The final product I tried was the Pixi Beauty Large Lash Mascara in Boldest Black. It is a wonderful mascara if you're looking for an everyday mascara with a little added oomph! Its large wand coats each individual lash, while the smudge-proof and water-resistant formula, which contains nourishing Vitamin E and bamboo extract to fortify and retain moisture, allows you to build volume without your eyelashes becoming clumpy. A big win for me! Pixi Large Lash Mascara is also available in a deep brown shade if you want a more subtle look. My favourite thing about the mascara is that it is both ophthalmologically tested and fragrance-free, so those with sensitive eyes and sensitive skin can safely use it without worry. I also found the Pixi Large Lash Mascara really easy to remove with a cleansing oil, despite lasting through 15 hour day and a rain-storm, without any flaking or smudging! This product is a marvel and one that has easily slotted into my everyday makeup routine!

Overall, I absolutely loved Pixi Beauty UK's SS/20 range and found some products that will definitely be staying with me for the long haul. Do you like Pixi Beauty UK? What products will you be trying of their SS/20 range? Let us know by tagging us @CAROLINAGMX on Insta.
