Trying…Glow Recipe With Sensitive Skin

Glow Recipe is a brand that is hard to ignore with their super playful, colourful packaging and fun ingredients. Their aim is to create Korean skincare essentials that are clean, cruelty-free and demystify K-beauty. Their products feature easy-to-use hybrids that deliver serious results, in a bubblegum-fun kind of way! Welcome to the world of fun skincare.

Below our Founder, Carolina shares her thoughts as she reviews some Glow Recipe minis and answers potential shoppers' most commonly searched questions. Carolina has sensitive, reactive skin.

What is Glow Recipe?

Glow Recipe describe themselves on their website as a brand that makes “clean, fruit-powered skincare designed to help bring out your inner glow.” They want to make skincare fun and make the people that use their products feel “stimulated and inspired.”

Glow Recipe use high-quality natural ingredients that are clean, cruelty-free and free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, among others.

Where to buy Glow Recipe?

For our USA and Canada-based readers you can shop Glow Recipe on their website, or at Sephora. If you are looking to shop them in the UK they are now available exclusively at Cult Beauty.

Key Things To Note:

Glow Recipe use active ingredients to make your skin glow naturally from within. Using fruity, sweet scents in their products, Glow Recipe promise clean, fruit-powered, unapologetic fun.

In 2018, Glow Recipe’s co-founders launched a sister brand Sweet Chef that aims “to target daily skin concerns with a mix of superpowered vegetables and vitamins.”

What Should I Use from Glow Recipe?

I tried minis of various products from Glow Recipe and have outlined my favourites below:

The Banana Souffle Moisture Cream – This calming cream is luxuriously thick and the perfect treat to layer onto dehydrated and stressed skin.

Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser- This highly energising cleanser is so diverse; the jelly texture makes this product fun to handle and it foams really easily. The light scent wakes up the skin instantly but does not irritate.

Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturiser – This is a light moisturiser, ideal for oily skin to balance sebum levels.

Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask – This product is a standout; pop it on before bed and the hyaluronic acid formula will hydrate overnight, the AHAs will exfoliate and clarify and the amino acid Watermelon Extract will soothe your skin. My skin felt extra radiant when I awoke the next day… It is no wonder it was awarded the Readers Choice Award at the Glamour Beauty Awards for 2020!

Lip Pop Balm – An exfoliating balm, with an ever-so-slight pop of colour; it is super hydrating and has the most delicious watermelon bubble-gum scent and taste.

Anything Else I Should Know?

By now you know that Glow Recipe uses superfruits as the base ingredients for its formulas. They specifically use watermelon, pineapple, blueberry, and avocado.

Glow Recipe is also highly committed to sustainability and lowering its carbon footprint. They do this by:

-using glass jars where possible (made from 20% recycled glass and are 100% recyclable)

-their cartons are made with a blend of PEFC-certified recycled paper that is free of acids and heavy metals. (These are also recyclable)
